Keli Celebrated Kerala Piravi 2009 in East Ham

Keli celebrated Kerala Piravi 2009 titled “Ente Keralam” in style at a function at Didsbury Centre, Didsbury Close, East Ham on Sunday 8th November.

Sasi S Kulamada welcomed everyone to the event. Savithri lighted the lamp to mark the occasion that was followed by Award Ceremony.Sivananthan Kanwasramath award went to Manampoor Suresh for his outstanding contributions to promote arts and culture in UK, sponsored by Bodhi UK. Keli Puraskaram received by Aslam for his immense contribution to the malayalee community. Ravi Pillai gave awards to Sulochana Sreedharan and Radha Gopinath for their contributions the drama field. Keli remembered three children who got good grades in Malayalam class organised by Sree Narayana Guru Mission by presenting mementos.

There was a wide variety of programmes that rolled over that evening. Malayalam Poetry recitation, Thiruvathira, classical songs by Mahesh and Jayaprakash Panicker accompanied by violin master Nagaraju and Mridangam artist Banglore Prathap. The breathtaking dances from Rincy and team, “Your Choice” by Geeja and team, comedy skits (Baiju, Murali Pillai, Madhu Pillai, Vakkom G Suresh Kumar, Joy, Manju, Ajith Lakshmanan) and mimicry by Varun and A N Joy were also the highlights of the event. There were good performances of Cinema songs.

The proceedings from this event will be used for chariy purposes in Kerala. Last year Keli donated 25,000 rs to Asianet Kannadi. The raffel price was sponsored by Fredin Xavier and Joy Alukkas. The whole programe was presented by Satheesh. Vote of thanks were made by S J Haris and event drawn to a close by the national anthem.

The day reminded great and sweet memmory of Kerala arts and culture.
