LIMCA Children's & Youth Fest 2009
Liverpool: On the occasion of the 120th Birth Anniversary of Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru, scores of people assembled in Broadgreen International School on Saturday 14th November, to participate in the
LIMCA Children's & Youth Fest 2009. This year's theme was "Jawaharlal Nehru - Our Chachaji". More than 200 children participated in the talent competitions arranged in five age groups. Competitions were held in colouring, painting, memory test, essay writing, singing, poetry, Malayalam and English elocutions, fancy dress, classical dances, group dances and quiz.
LIMCA children's fest has evolved to become the most popular events among the Indian communities in Merseyside. Besides Keralites, children from other parts of India also participated in the events.With the outstanding quality and class of competitions, the judges had a tough time in determining the winners. The judging panel consisted of eminent personalities from respective fields.
Awards to the winners will be presented during the glittering Awards Nite and Kerala Piravi celebrations on Saturday 28th November at the Broadgreen International School. Special achievement awards will also be presented to children for excellence in Academic and Extracurricular activities. Top dignitaries from the Liverpool city council, Universities and NHS are expected for this high-profile event.
LIMCA is also organising an arts exhibition on the day, where the marvellous paintings of our children will be on display for the public to appreciate.Children's Fest participants and their parents will also get a FREE entry to the Mega Stage show "Thaaramelam" held on the 28th November from 10am.
This was the 5th Children's day celebration organised by LIMCA. Anil George functioned as the programme co-ordinator. LIMCA President Raji Mathew welcomed the participants and Thomas John Varikkattu thanked everyone for making the event a resounding success.
