SIMWA Celebrates Eid event in Croydon
South Indian Muslim Welfare Association (SIMWA), a malayalee muslim
organisation in Croydon held an Eid get together event on 28th
November at Day Lewis House, Thornton Heath. Eid Ul Adha is the second
most important festival in musim calendar and marks the end of Hajj,
the annual pilgrimage to Macca.
The Children's programme, Arabic and Malayalam Nasheeds, stories,
recitation from the Quran were part of the programme.
The guest speakers were Shaykh Mohammed Arif Hansrot from Thornton
Heath Masjid and he discussed the importance of daily prayers in Islam
and Abu Muntasir, the chief executive of JIMAS gave a lecture on
"bringing communities together".
Around 150 people attended this event and had representations from
other organisations and communities.
Shanavas Rahim welcomed everyone to the event and Sajeem Ismail
proposed the vote of thanks.
SIMWA is a registered charity organisation formed in 1981 to provide a
greater understanding of the islamic culture and values.
